A light bulb idea!

I was in the car the other day and a light bulb idea hit me. I think all facial tissue paper should be shaped round rather than square (or rectangle or however you like to call it). This should lead to less consumption and less waste. Most people mainly use the center of the paper. Not many would make an effort to, or be able to use the 4 corners of the paper. Thus in many usage, the 4 corner areas are actually useless. If companies can cut the corners and make them into circles, then there will be much less waste out there, and they can make more with these excess materials.

I should be on American Inventor!

won't it cost more money to make them in circle?

Not necessarily. (mike has questioned me this before) All depends on how they are made. It could very well be done just by changing the mold on the cutting device to circle instead of square.

the shape of the paper doesn't affect the way it folds in the box. It can be done the same way.

I think they process tissue papers (and toilet papers) into long roll and cut them into squares - Not really using square mold. If they use a circle mold, you will still end up with corners anyway. I guess they can put the corners back into to the system and make another 'sheet' of tissue for them to cut more circles out but again, that would be too expensive which defeats the purpose of energy/environment saving.
